What is Anxiety?

 Anxiety is a natural human response to stress, fear, or perceived fear. It can be described as a feeling of unease, dread or worry that can fluctuate between mild feelings of anxiety to severe. It is normal to feel anxiety at certain times in our lives, for example, before a job interview, but it can become debilitating when these feelings are relentless and overwhelming, and affect daily life.

 

So, when working with anxiety, it is about exploring causes and triggers. These can be past experiences, current life stress and/or physical health. The exact cause of anxiety can be difficult to pinpoint, because typically it is a combination of different factors, but through therapy these can be explored and understood, supporting you to better a understanding and developing tools you need to manage your anxiety.
